In April 2005 Carl and Deb Kretchman were appointed to career missionary service to the Czech Republic. The Holy Spirit has placed a burden in their hearts for the Czech people with a passion to share Christ and their testimonies. They desire to share the excitement and love of a Christ-centered life with people of all ages.
Carl is a chemical engineer and has spent 20 years with Corning Incorporated. Deb is a hairdresser. They have two children: Katarina (’94) and Derek (’97). Both Carl and Deb are actively involved in the life and ministry of their home church, Victory Highway Wesleyan Church. In 2000 God started speaking to their hearts about full-time Christian service. Through mission trips and a series of divinely orchestrated events, they realized God wanted them to reach the Czech people.
In September 2006 the Kretchmans moved to Prague as the first Global Partners' missionaries to the capital city of the Czech Republic. They are partnering with the Czech Wesleyan pastor, Marek Fajfr, and his wife, Jana, to begin the first Wesleyan church in Prague. Carl plans to reach out through community service, discipleship/mentoring, teaching English, music and youth activities. Deb will use her gifts with hair and makeup, along with her compassion and grief recovery skills, to reach people in need. They look forward with great anticipation to see the power of the Holy Spirit work to reach new friends as they settle in Prague.
