Since 1994 Mike and Cindy Helvie have ministered as Global Partners’ career missionaries to South Africa where they served in church leadership development. In 2005 they were reassigned to Europe where they will continue their missionary ministry.
Mike was born and raised in Logansport, Indiana. He earned a B.S. degree in Christian ministries from Indiana Wesleyan University. Cindy (Mortier) was born in Seattle, Washington, and raised in Eugene, Oregon. She earned a B.S. degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. They have both earned M.A. degrees in counseling from Western Evangelical Seminary.
At age19 Mike sensed a call to missions, and Cindy felt her call to missions when she was 11. Mike and Cindy met at college, and together they felt a call to missions. They served in South Africa from 1992-1993 with the Wesleyan Gospel Corps.
Their vision for missionary service is to help people lead healthy lives and become whole so they may enable themselves, their families, and the their churches to experience and respond to God's grace.
The Helvies have two children: Eric (‘84) and Melody (‘86).
