As children, both Matt and Caryl Aukerman accepted Jesus into their hearts. They met at Indiana University (IU) through their involvement with Campus Crusade for Christ where their eyes were opened to the Great Commission. They graduated from IU—Matt earning a degree in secondary education with a certification to teach mathematics and Caryl earning a degree in social work
During their 11 years at Plymouth Wesleyan Church, they have been involved in several lay ministries. From 1997-1998 they served with Global Partners as GO-Net volunteers in Russia where they led small group Bible studies and helped in the beginning stages of a church plant. It was during this time that they felt God’s presence in a special way and sensed He was calling them to missionary service .
In June 2004 Matt and Caryl were appointed to serve as career missionaries in Albania. They desire to see God work in the lives of Albanians through their own lives as they share Christ with new friends, disciple new believers to live for Him, and contribute to the establishment of The Wesleyan Church in Albania.
Matt and Caryl have two children: Noah (’99) and Grace (’01).
"As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV).
